Understand every call: AI transcription and analytics on 3CX
3CX AI Edition turns your recorded calls into searchable transcripts, summaries, sentiment and analytics — without your team listening to every call by hand. ECOLOR Technologies designs, enables and supports these capabilities in Saudi Arabia, via the cloud (OpenAI Whisper and xAI Grok) or a local-processing option for sensitive voice data.
A native 3CX capability (GA · since the Final updates) — we enable it and wire it into your workflow, not just sell a license.

01 · Definition
What is 3CX AI call transcription and analytics?
3CX AI call transcription and analytics is a native, production-ready (GA) capability set in the 3CX AI Edition that automatically turns your recorded calls into written transcripts, summaries, sentiment analysis and metrics — so you can search conversations, review quality and measure service performance without listening to every call by hand. Processing runs either in the cloud or on a local AI Server.
In practice, call recording must be enabled first, because transcription works on the recording. The system then produces a text transcript of the call, a concise summary in the language of the conversation, an indication of the customer’s tone (sentiment analysis), and analytics that feed reporting. Transcripts are searchable, so you quickly find who said what in any call.
These capabilities are native to the 3CX platform — not a separate ECOLOR product. ECOLOR’s role is correct design and enablement, choosing the path (cloud or local) that fits your data policies, wiring the outputs into your contact center and quality workflow, and training and support in Arabic and English.
02 · Capabilities
What transcription and analytics give you
Native 3CX AI Edition capabilities (GA) that we enable and configure for your workflow:
Call transcription
Recorded calls converted to searchable written transcripts. Requires call recording enabled and benefits from stereo recording for better speaker separation and accuracy (no absolute accuracy guarantee).
Call summaries
A concise summary of each call in the conversation language, saving supervisors and agents review time and making it easy to pass context between teams.
Sentiment analysis
Analysis of customer tone across calls to surface satisfaction or frustration, helping quality teams pick the calls worth a deeper review.
Call analytics
AI-driven analytics and reporting over your transcripts and sentiment, revealing patterns and recurring topics across a high volume of calls.
Cloud or local processing
Production-ready cloud processing (OpenAI Whisper / xAI Grok), or a local AI Server option to keep processing inside your environment (the standalone server is currently in Alpha).
ECOLOR enablement & wiring
We enable recording and transcription, choose the path that fits your policies, and wire outputs into your contact center, reporting and quality workflow.

04 · Use cases
Where transcription and analytics make a difference
- ◆
A Riyadh contact center auto-transcribes and summarizes calls, so supervisors review transcripts instead of full audio and spot recurring patterns faster.
- ◆
A sales team extracts follow-up points and common objections from call summaries instead of relying on scattered manual notes.
- ◆
A quality team uses sentiment analysis to shortlist negative- or positive-tone calls for a deeper review, instead of a random sample.
- ◆
A collections team reviews call transcripts to confirm the approved script was followed and promises made to customers were accurate.
- ◆
A customer support team searches call transcripts for a recurring issue to find its root cause and improve the knowledge base and procedures.
- ◆
An organization reviews service interactions for internal governance through searchable transcripts and reports (supports governance efforts, with no compliance guarantee).
- ◆
A multi-branch company measures service consistency across branches through call analytics and sentiment on one unified platform.
- ◆
An organization handling sensitive voice data prefers local processing on an AI Server over the cloud (an option currently in Alpha).
05 · How it works
How it works: cloud vs local processing and edition gating
The chain starts with the recording: recording must be enabled because transcription works on the recording, and stereo recording improves speaker separation and transcript accuracy. The recording is then processed to produce the transcript, summary, sentiment and analytics — via one of two paths that ECOLOR chooses with you based on your data policies.
The cloud path is production-ready (GA): recordings are sent to cloud servers for transcription via OpenAI Whisper or xAI Grok, then deleted after processing. The U9 Final update added the xAI Grok provider with summarization in the call’s own language. Enterprise Plus also offers a cloud-transcription path with defined minute allocations.
The local path: transcription, summaries and sentiment can be processed locally on a standalone AI Server that keeps data inside your environment — on NVIDIA GPU-based systems or Apple Macs. An honest note: the standalone server is currently in Alpha within Update 10 (for testing and evaluation only, not for production). ECOLOR can set up an evaluation/pilot environment for it today, and production rollout once it reaches a stable release — while cloud processing is production-ready now.
Edition and licensing gating: full transcription, summaries, sentiment and analytics are included in the 3CX AI Edition with no hidden add-ons; the PRO edition provides voicemail transcription only; and Enterprise Plus offers cloud transcription minutes. Conversational agents (like the AI Receptionist) need your own OpenAI key, but transcription, summarization and sentiment are part of the bundle. The current stable line is V20 Update 9 (Final).
- AI Edition — full transcription + summaries + sentiment + analytics (GA).
- PRO — voicemail transcription only.
- Enterprise Plus — cloud transcription path with defined minute allocations.
- Standalone local AI Server — Alpha (Update 10), for evaluation, not production.
06 · Privacy, data & governance
Privacy, data residency and governance — honestly, no guarantees
Because transcription handles the content of real calls, where data is processed matters. On the cloud path, recordings are sent for processing and then deleted; on the local path via an AI Server, transcription, summary and sentiment processing stays on your own hardware, which suits organizations that cannot send sensitive voice data to the public cloud. We help you choose the path that fits your policies, and the hosting location and data-residency options are confirmed during solution design.
Searchable transcripts, reports and access controls support your governance and internal review efforts — but they do not make ECOLOR or your organization automatically compliant with any authority or regulation. Accountability for compliance and data retention remains with you, with details defined in the solution documents.
We make no absolute guarantees of transcription accuracy, security, availability or compliance; transcript quality is affected by recording quality, language, dialect and noise. We provide real capabilities and sound configuration practices, with responsibilities and service levels defined in the agreed contract.
