Convert audio to 3CX format
For IVR prompts and on-hold music to work on 3CX at high quality and without errors, audio files must be in the compatible format: a WAV file with PCM encoding, 8000 Hz sample rate, 16-bit depth, and a single (Mono) channel. This guide explains the spec and conversion steps — and ECOLOR’s team is ready to set up your voice prompts professionally.
Required format: WAV / PCM · 8000 Hz · 16-bit · Mono. Any other format may be rejected or play at poor quality on 3CX.

01 · Definition
What is the 3CX-compatible audio format?
3CX requires voice files (IVR prompts, voicemail, on-hold music) to be in a specific format: a WAV file with PCM encoding, an 8000 Hz (8 kHz) sample rate, 16-bit depth, and a single Mono audio channel.
If you upload a file in another format (such as MP3, or a 44100 Hz WAV, or stereo), the system may reject it or play it at poor quality or the wrong speed. So the file must be converted to the correct spec before uploading.
02 · Why it matters
Why converting to the correct format matters
Guaranteed compatibility
The correct format is accepted directly in 3CX with no upload error messages.
Clear audio quality
Correct encoding ensures prompts play clearly with no distortion or noise.
Correct playback speed
An 8000 Hz rate prevents audio from playing at the wrong speed or pitch.
Professional to the customer
Professional IVR prompts and on-hold music reflect well on your company.
