Custom 3CX integrations
Connect 3CX to your systems with a custom API integration
When a native CRM template isn’t enough, ECOLOR builds a bespoke integration on the 3CX Call Control API to connect your phone system to in-house and ERP systems.
Click-to-call, call automation, live wallboards and screen-pops — built around your actual workflow, not a generic template.

What is the 3CX API?
The 3CX Call Control API is a developer interface that lets you build custom call-control and automation apps on top of 3CX — click-to-call, custom CRM/ERP hooks, call automation, live wallboards and screen-pops for in-house systems.
The Call Control API has been generally available (GA) since V18 and requires the Enterprise edition of 3CX (from 8 simultaneous calls, with the Call Flow Designer). Alongside it, a Configuration API handles provisioning and administration programmatically, so system settings can be managed in code rather than by hand.
It’s important not to overstate this: the API is for programmatic call control and configuration — it is not a no-code tool. It requires real development work and API access credentials. That is where ECOLOR fits: scoping the integration, building it against the API, securing access, and maintaining it as 3CX evolves.
- Click-to-call from inside your own system
- Connect 3CX to in-house CRM/ERP systems when a template isn’t enough
- Automate calls and call events, and drive live wallboards
- Provision and administer programmatically via the Configuration API
What you can build with the 3CX APIs
Call Control API
Programmatic control of calls and call events to build custom apps on top of 3CX — GA since V18 and requires the Enterprise edition.
Configuration API
Provision, administer and configure the system in code instead of manual setup.
Custom CRM/ERP hooks
A bespoke integration for when a native CRM template doesn’t cover your need, connecting 3CX to your in-house systems.
Click-to-call
Start calls directly from inside your own app or in-house system instead of dialling by hand.
Live wallboards
Real-time wallboards that surface live call and queue state for your teams.
Secure API access
Token management and least-privilege access to protect programmatic access to your system.
When to use native template vs custom API
| Need | Approach | Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Standard CRM caller-ID / journaling | Native CRM template | PRO/ENT |
| Bespoke call control / in-house app | Call Control API | Enterprise |
| Outbound dialer / campaign automation | ECOLOR AutoConnect on the API | Enterprise |
| Programmatic provisioning at scale | Configuration API | PRO/ENT |
AutoConnect is ECOLOR-developed on the API, not a native 3CX feature.
How ECOLOR builds an API integration
- Scope the use case
We map your in-house systems, workflow and the goal of the integration before any code is written, and decide whether a native template is enough or a custom build is needed.
- Design the integration
We design the data and event flow between your app and 3CX, and define the API endpoints and credentials required.
- Build against the API
We develop the integration against the Call Control API or the Configuration API, depending on the need.
- Secure access
We configure tokens and least-privilege access to protect programmatic access to your system.
- Test & maintain
We test the integration, then maintain it across 3CX updates so it keeps working rather than breaking silently.
Integration flow
What you need
- 3CX Enterprise edition
- API access credentials
- An in-house system or app to integrate with
- A clearly defined use case and desired outcome
- A plan to secure access (tokens and least privilege)
Not sure which path fits? ECOLOR helps you assess the need and choose a native template or a custom integration.
Saudi deployment notes & limits
The API is programmatic, not no-code: it requires real development work and API access credentials, and cannot be built by drag-and-drop. Every integration should be scoped and designed before build begins.
Custom integrations need maintaining across 3CX updates, because system behaviour can change between versions. ECOLOR maintains integrations so they keep working with each update instead of breaking silently.
Not every case needs custom code: when the requirement is outbound dialling and campaign automation, AutoConnect (which is ECOLOR-developed on the API, not a native 3CX feature) may fit better than building a raw integration from scratch. We help you choose the lower-cost, more stable path.
