Migrate to 3CX

Move from your legacy PBX to 3CX with minimal disruption

ECOLOR migrates businesses from legacy and other PBX systems (Avaya, Cisco, Yeastar, Panasonic, Mitel and more) to the 3CX phone system using a proven method: assess, design, run old and new in parallel, cut over in phases, then decommission.

We keep your numbers via porting, usually reuse your existing SIP trunks, and re-provision supported IP phones — ECOLOR is a Fanvil Platinum Partner and Yealink Gold Partner — all backed by a full rollback plan to de-risk the move.

What does migrating to 3CX involve?

Migrating to 3CX is a managed project that moves your telephony from a legacy PBX to 3CX without losing numbers or stopping work. We build a new 3CX environment, run it in parallel with your current system, test every call path, then port the numbers and cut over in phases so nothing switches all at once. The parallel-run approach means the business keeps making and receiving calls on the existing platform right up until the moment we are confident the new one is ready.

It does not mean replacing everything overnight. Phone numbers are transferred through the carrier porting process, existing SIP trunks can usually be reused as-is, and compatible IP phones (Fanvil, Yealink and other SIP handsets) are re-provisioned to register against 3CX rather than repurchased. This keeps hardware and carrier costs down while modernising the platform. Where a trunk uses registration or IP-authentication, we confirm the credentials and the carrier’s allowed source addresses so the same trunk can serve both systems during the overlap period.

Extensions, DIDs, IVR menus and call flows are rebuilt inside 3CX to match — or improve on — how your business works today. This is also the moment to clean up years of accumulated complexity: unused extensions, dead routing rules and duplicated queues do not need to be carried across. Honesty matters here: only FreePBX, Elastix and Asterisk have an automated 3CX config converter. Migrations from Avaya, Cisco, Yeastar, Panasonic and Mitel are manual SIP-cutover projects, not a one-click import — anyone who promises otherwise for those systems is overstating what is possible.

  • Number porting to keep your existing numbers
  • Reuse of existing SIP trunks where possible
  • Re-provisioning of compatible IP phones instead of replacing them
  • Rebuild of extensions, DIDs, IVR and call flows in 3CX
  • Parallel run of both systems to de-risk before final cutover

What the migration service covers

Assessment

We document your current extensions, DIDs, SIP trunks, phone models and call flows before designing anything.

Number porting

We port your numbers through the carrier process in Saudi Arabia while keeping calls flowing throughout.

Reuse SIP trunks

Existing SIP trunks can usually be reused with 3CX, avoiding new carrier contracts.

Re-provision phones

Compatible Fanvil, Yealink and other SIP handsets are re-provisioned to register against 3CX.

Parallel cutover

We run the old system and 3CX together and test every path before a phased cutover.

Rollback plan

Every migration includes a clear rollback plan so we can revert quickly if anything goes wrong.

ECOLOR migration methodology

  1. Assess & inventory

We inventory extensions, DIDs, SIP trunks, phones and call flows, and decide what transfers and what is rebuilt.

  2. Design the 3CX build

We design a 3CX structure that mirrors how you work today: IVR, queues, business hours and permissions.

  3. Run old + new in parallel

We stand up 3CX alongside your current system and test every call path before any switchover.

  4. Port numbers & cut over

We coordinate porting with the carrier and cut traffic over in phases to minimise disruption.

  5. Decommission & support

Once 3CX is stable we decommission the legacy system and provide post-migration support.

Migration readiness checklist

  • Current extensions/DIDs inventory
  • SIP trunk / carrier details
  • Phone models in use
  • Number porting authorization
  • Existing IVR and call-queue flows
  • Network and firewall settings for SIP

Having this information ready before the first meeting speeds up the assessment phase and shortens the project.

Saudi deployment notes & limits

Number porting in Saudi Arabia is handled through the carrier and can take several days. We start the porting process early and keep the legacy system live until porting completes, so no calls are lost during the transition. On the network side, 3CX needs the right firewall rules and SIP/RTP port handling; we verify NAT behaviour, define the audio port ranges, and — for remote or branch users — plan a session border controller or the 3CX tunnel so remote phones register cleanly.

Be honest about automation: only FreePBX, Elastix and Asterisk have an automated 3CX config converter. Migrations from Avaya, Cisco, Yeastar, Panasonic and Mitel are predominantly manual SIP-cutover projects — we rebuild the call flows rather than promise a one-click import. For end-of-life systems such as older Panasonic or NEC hardware, migration is effectively a replacement, which is often the trigger for the move in the first place.

The rollback plan and parallel run are what de-risk the move. We keep both systems running, test thoroughly before cutover, and retain the ability to fall back immediately if anything behaves unexpectedly. Testing covers inbound and outbound calls, DID routing, IVR paths, call recording and any CRM or door-phone integrations, so surprises surface before cutover rather than after. Many businesses also see savings versus legacy maintenance contracts, though the exact figure depends on your current setup — we do not quote a fixed percentage sight unseen.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep my phone numbers?
Yes, via carrier number porting. We start the porting process early and keep the legacy system live until it completes, so calls keep flowing throughout the migration.
Can I reuse my existing SIP trunk?
Usually yes. Most SIP trunks can be reused with 3CX without new carrier contracts; we validate the provider settings and re-point them during the parallel run.
Will my current IP phones work with 3CX?
Most SIP phones — including Fanvil and Yealink — are re-provisioned to register against 3CX. We check models and firmware during the inventory phase before cutover.
Is there downtime during migration?
Downtime is minimised via a parallel run: both systems operate together, we test every path, then cut over in phases so work does not stop all at once.
Is there an automated import from my old PBX?
Only for FreePBX, Elastix and Asterisk, which have an automated 3CX config converter. Avaya, Cisco, Yeastar, Panasonic and Mitel are manual SIP-cutover projects.
Can we roll back if something goes wrong?
Yes. Every migration has a rollback plan; the legacy system stays live during the parallel run, so we can revert to it immediately until 3CX is proven stable.
