3CX Zoho CRM integration

What is the 3CX Zoho CRM integration?

The 3CX Zoho CRM integration is a direct link that matches the incoming number against Zoho CRM, shows the agent the contact or lead name, opens the matching record automatically, and logs the call as a Zoho activity.

It runs on the Zoho CRM template built into the CRM integration module inside 3CX. Setup is central and server-side using API/OAuth credentials, so no software is installed on each agent’s desktop for journaling to work.

In practice this means your team recognises the caller before answering, reaches their history in one click, and keeps the Zoho call log continuously up to date without the manual entry burden usually placed on agents.

  • Native Zoho CRM template — no middleware required
  • Requires 3CX PRO or Enterprise edition
  • Works via the 3CX browser extension (Chrome/Edge) or the web client

What the integration does

Six native capabilities that show up directly in the agent’s daily experience.

Caller ID from Zoho

3CX matches the incoming number against Zoho CRM and shows the contact or lead name instead of an unknown number.

Screen-pop

The matching Zoho record opens automatically on ring or answer, so the agent starts the call with full customer context in view.

Click2Call

Click any phone number inside Zoho to place the call straight through 3CX, with no manual dialling.

Call journaling

Inbound and outbound calls, answered and missed, are logged automatically as Zoho activities and call records.

Auto-create contacts

The system can be configured to auto-create a new Zoho contact or lead when a call arrives from an unknown number.

Central setup

The integration is configured once at server level and applies to every agent with no per-desktop install.

How ECOLOR sets it up

  1. Assess

We confirm your current 3CX edition, which Zoho module to search (Leads or Contacts), and the number formats used in your account.

  2. Connect API

In 3CX Admin Console → Integrations → CRM we select the Zoho template and enter API/OAuth credentials for a secure central link.

  3. Number matching (+966/E.164)

We configure Saudi number normalisation so that 05…, +966 and E.164 formats all match the same Zoho record.

  4. Journaling rules

We define which calls are logged and how they are recorded as activities, and when a new record is created for unknown callers.

  5. Test & handover

We test caller ID, screen-pop, Click2Call and journaling in practice, then hand over with simple documentation for your team.

What you need before you start

  • 3CX PRO or Enterprise
  • Zoho CRM admin / API access
  • A decision on which module to match (Leads vs Contacts)
  • A list of the number formats in use (05…, +966, E.164)

Not sure of your edition or permissions? ECOLOR confirms both during the assessment session.

Saudi deployment notes & limits

The key Saudi detail is number normalisation: the same customer may be stored in Zoho as 05XXXXXXXX or +9665XXXXXXXX, while the number reaches 3CX in E.164 form. ECOLOR configures the matching rules (exact / partial / E.164) so these formats resolve to the same record and the Arabic contact name displays correctly.

Another important decision is which module 3CX searches in Zoho: should it match Leads, Contacts, or both? This determines which name the agent sees and where the call is journaled, and it should reflect how your sales process actually uses Zoho.

Native journaling logs calls and identifies callers, but it does not cover outbound campaigns, bulk dialling, or custom workflows. When you need more than native journaling — such as bulk dialling, custom fields, or outbound campaigns — that is where ECOLOR AutoConnect fits (ECOLOR-developed, not a native 3CX feature).

Frequently asked questions

Does the 3CX Zoho integration require a specific edition?
Yes. It requires 3CX PRO or Enterprise. The Free and Basic editions do not include CRM integration.
Does it work with Zoho Desk?
The native 3CX template is for Zoho CRM. Zoho Desk is a separate product and its integration is provided by Zoho, not a native 3CX template, so the two should not be conflated.
Can it auto-create leads for unknown callers?
Yes. The system can be configured to automatically create a new Zoho contact or lead when a call arrives from a number that is not already in your CRM.
Does it support Saudi +966 number matching?
Yes. ECOLOR configures normalisation so that 05…, +966 and E.164 formats all resolve to the same Zoho record — the key Saudi deployment detail.
Is it server-side or per-agent?
Journaling is configured centrally, server-side, with no per-desktop install. Screen-pop works through the 3CX browser extension or web client on the agent’s side.
Can it do outbound campaigns / bulk dialling?
Native journaling only logs calls. Bulk dialling and outbound campaigns require ECOLOR AutoConnect (ECOLOR-developed, not a native 3CX feature).
How long does setup take?
It depends on your edition, Zoho permissions, and how clean your number data is. ECOLOR gives a realistic timeline after the assessment rather than a generic figure.
