Secure offsite cloud backup for your data

Automatically copy your data to an encrypted offsite cloud repository, so a local disaster can never destroy your only copy.

ECOLOR designs the backup scope and schedule, handles encryption and keys, chooses an in-Kingdom or global cloud target, and monitors every backup’s success and failure.

What is cloud backup?

Cloud backup is the practice of securely copying your data to an offsite cloud repository, automatically and on a schedule, so a local disaster such as fire, theft, or hardware failure can never destroy your only copy.

The data is encrypted in transit and at rest, then stored in a cloud data center that is geographically separate from your office. This gives you a copy that is fully independent of your local infrastructure and satisfies the 3-2-1 rule: three copies of your data, on two different media, with at least one copy kept offsite.

Cloud backup is distinct from VM backup (which protects virtual machines), from Microsoft 365 backup (which protects SaaS data), and from immutable backup (a tamper-proof method). This page is about the offsite cloud target itself, and it can be combined with all of those approaches.

  • Automated, scheduled backups with no manual steps

Why cloud backup?

Offsite cloud copy

A copy independent of your local infrastructure that survives fire, theft, and hardware failure.

Encrypted in transit & at rest

Your data stays encrypted on the wire and inside the cloud repository, with sound key handling.

Automated & scheduled

Backups run on a defined schedule instead of relying on manual steps that get forgotten.

Scales on demand

Cloud capacity grows with your data without buying and racking new storage hardware.

Monitored success/failure

Central visibility of backup status with alerts when any job fails.

In-Kingdom option

Choose a cloud target inside Saudi Arabia when the storage location of your data matters.

How ECOLOR sets up cloud backup

  1. Define scope & retention

We decide which servers and data are backed up and how long each copy is kept.

  2. Choose the cloud target

We select an in-Kingdom or global cloud destination based on your data-residency needs.

  3. Encrypt & schedule

We configure encryption, key handling, and a backup schedule that fits your workloads.

  4. Seed the first backup

We run the first full backup, seeding the data where needed to cut initial upload time.

  5. Monitor & test restores

We monitor success and failure and periodically test restores to confirm the backups are valid.

What you need

  • Data scope & retention policy
  • Cloud target (in-Kingdom / global)
  • Encryption keys
  • Bandwidth for first seed
  • Restore-test schedule

ECOLOR helps you prepare these elements and wire them into a reliable backup setup.

Saudi deployment notes & limits

The storage location, or data residency, of the cloud target matters in Saudi Arabia. When data must remain in the Kingdom, we choose an in-Kingdom cloud target; any regulatory or data-residency requirements remain subject to the customer’s own compliance review.

The first full backup can take a long time depending on data size and available bandwidth. Seeding the initial dataset shortens this window before switching to scheduled incremental backups.

No backup setup is complete without ongoing monitoring and periodic restore tests. A backup whose restore has never been tested is not a guaranteed recovery.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data encrypted in the cloud?
Yes, in transit and at rest, with sound key handling agreed at setup so only authorized parties can read the data.
Can the backup be stored in Saudi Arabia?
Yes, in-Kingdom targets are available and can be selected when the storage location of your data matters to you.
How long does the first backup take?
It depends on data size and bandwidth; seeding the initial dataset helps shorten the first full backup before incremental jobs take over.
What is the 3-2-1 rule?
Three copies of your data, kept on two different media, with at least one copy stored offsite.
Does cloud backup protect against ransomware?
It reduces risk with an offsite copy and is best combined with immutable copies for stronger ransomware resilience.
Can I restore individual files?
Yes, the setup supports restoring individual files, folders, or a full dataset as needed.
