Connect the whole plant — shop floor, warehouse, offices — on one system

A factory is a large, noisy, always-running environment, not a quiet office. ECOLOR Technologies builds a unified communications system on 3CX that connects the shop floor, warehouse, offices and multiple sites — with DECT wireless coverage across the facility, paging and overhead announcements, and fault and safety lines that reach the right person at once.

One Saudi partner for the phone system, wireless coverage, paging, multi-site linking and the IT behind your industrial operation.

01 · The challenge

What manufacturing communications actually need

Manufacturing communications need a system that covers a large, noisy space and links the shop floor, warehouse and offices on one platform: DECT wireless handsets that move with staff across the halls, overhead paging and announcements, fast fault and safety lines, and links between plants — engineered for continuous operations, not a quiet office.

The problem is that most plants have accumulated separate lines: an ageing PBX in the admin block, a handful of fixed phones no one can hear over the machinery in a vast hall, standalone two-way radios, and a second site running an entirely different system. The result is that a breakdown report gets delayed, a shift supervisor is chased on foot across the floor, and a supplier or freight driver cannot find anyone to answer.

We start from your facility as it really is — the hall layout, noise levels, coverage zones, shift patterns and how many sites you run — then design one unified system on 3CX: wireless coverage where people actually work, rugged industrial phones where conditions demand them, shift-based routing, and every site connected to the rest on one platform run by one team.

02 · The solution

Communications built for the plant floor

Building blocks that address the reality of a large, noisy, always-running facility:

DECT coverage across the facility

Wireless DECT handsets that move with staff across halls and warehouses via distributed base stations, so no one is tied to a desk. Coverage design is subject to a technical site assessment.

Paging & overhead announcements

Overhead announcements, group calls and zoned paging to get messages across over machinery noise — integrated with paging and PA systems where supported.

Fault & safety lines

Fast numbers for breakdown, maintenance and emergency reports that route straight to the on-shift supervisor or maintenance team, with recording that assists follow-up.

Multi-plant linking

Bring plants, branches and warehouses onto one system with unified internal numbering, free inter-site calls and central management.

Rugged industrial phones

IP and DECT phones from Fanvil (Fanvil Platinum Partner) and Yealink (Yealink Gold Partner) suited to industrial and office conditions inside the facility.

Reception & switchboard for large facilities

A reception line and switchboard built for large facilities, with auto-attendant and routing by department and shift instead of a caller getting lost between numbers.

03 · Capabilities

Capabilities that matter for industrial operations

What you get on the 3CX platform, the AutoConnect platform and with Fanvil and Yealink hardware:

  • DECT wireless coverage across halls and warehouses
  • Paging, overhead announcements and group calls
  • Fast fault, maintenance and safety lines
  • Shift-based and working-hours routing
  • Unified internal numbering across plants
  • Free calls between sites
  • Auto-attendant and department routing (IVR)
  • Rugged industrial IP and DECT phones
  • Call recording (from PRO) with access controls
  • Mobile app and softphone for offices and management
  • Coordination lines for suppliers, freight and logistics
  • Resilience via backup SIP trunks and flexible options

04 · Use cases

Real scenarios on the plant floor

  • An operator on the production line spots a machine stoppage, presses the fault number from the nearest industrial phone, and the report routes straight to the on-shift maintenance technician — with recording that assists follow-up.

  • A shift supervisor moving between three halls carries a single DECT handset and stays reachable wherever they are, without returning to a desk or being chased across the plant.

  • An overhead page calls the handling crew to the loading dock, or alerts a specific zone to a safety procedure, cutting through the machinery noise.

  • The warehouse lead takes a driver’s call at the gate on their wireless handset while walking the aisles, confirming a delivery without delay.

  • A second plant in another industrial city is connected to head-office numbering, so production and quality talk across both sites for free as if in one building.

  • A procurement coordinator handles supplier and freight lines from their desk, with the supplier record popping from the ERP where the integration is supported.

  • The facility reception line routes a visitor or caller automatically by department and shift, instead of being transferred by hand between several numbers.

  • The maintenance team works in shifts, so after-hours fault reports route automatically to whoever is on call, following the configured shift schedule.

05 · Integrations

Connecting to your plant systems

Communications are far more useful when they connect to the systems the plant runs on. 3CX can be linked to ERP, helpdesk and CRM systems to pop the supplier record or work order when a call comes in, journal calls, and click-to-call — where supported. Compatible systems and the exact capabilities of each integration are confirmed during the discovery phase.

For administrative offices and industrial sales, Microsoft Teams integration provides Direct Routing and Microsoft 365 sync under the supported requirements, so office staff can talk from Teams over company lines. For external coordination, WhatsApp Business integration lets you answer supplier and customer conversations inside the system. See our CRM and ERP integration, Microsoft Teams integration and WhatsApp Business pages for detail.

For outbound contact — supplier reminders, follow-up campaigns, scheduling alerts — ECOLOR’s AutoConnect platform adds dialing and distribution automation on top of 3CX, with dialing strategies configured per campaign. See the AutoConnect platform.

06 · Recording & governance

Recording, access controls and governance

In an industrial environment, call recording helps with following up breakdown reports, documenting safety coordination, and reviewing supplier and freight dealings. Call recording is available from 3CX PRO and above, with access controls, roles and reporting that help you govern your communications.

We design retention and access around your policies: who can listen to recordings, how long they are kept, and where they are stored. Hosting and data-residency options — cloud, on-premise inside the plant, or hybrid — are confirmed during solution design according to your operating requirements.

These tools support your governance and compliance efforts; they do not replace them, and we do not claim to make your plant compliant with any regulatory framework. Actual controls remain subject to your internal policies and applicable law.

08 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you cover a large, noisy production hall?
We combine wireless DECT handsets with distributed base stations across halls and warehouses, overhead paging for group announcements, and rugged industrial phones at fixed points. Actual coverage design is subject to a technical assessment of your facility layout, noise levels and work zones.
Can you link more than one plant or warehouse on one system?
Yes. 3CX links plants, branches and warehouses on one platform with unified internal numbering, free inter-site calls and central management, whether the sites are cloud, on-premise or a mix.
Do you integrate with our existing paging and PA systems?
In many cases yes — via suitable gateways and interfaces for paging and PA systems. Compatibility with your existing system and the connection method are confirmed during the discovery phase.
Do you supply rugged industrial phones?
Yes. As a Fanvil Platinum Partner and Yealink Gold Partner, we supply IP and DECT phones suited to industrial and office conditions inside the facility, and we select the right model for each area.
Can the system connect to our ERP or helpdesk?
Where supported, yes — to pop the supplier record or work order when a call comes in, click-to-call, and journal calls. Compatible systems and each integration’s capabilities are confirmed during the discovery phase.
How does the system handle shifts?
We configure routing by shift and working hours, so calls and fault reports route automatically to the on-shift supervisor or maintenance team in each period, with fast lines for emergencies.
Will it work if our internet is unreliable?
We design resilience around your reality — backup SIP trunks, on-premise or hybrid deployment where needed, and alternative routing options. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, but we design to minimize disruption for your environment.
