What is an STC SIP trunk for 3CX?
An STC SIP trunk is a voice service from stc Business that connects your 3CX phone system to the public telephone network over the internet, replacing legacy E1/PRI or analog lines. It carries your inbound and outbound calls as SIP over IP, so a single connection handles many simultaneous calls without physical phone lines.
On 3CX, the trunk is added as a VoIP provider (SIP trunk) using registration or IP-authentication credentials issued by the carrier. Once registered, your 3CX extensions, IVRs and queues place and receive calls through the carrier’s network. STC is the largest Saudi carrier and explicitly markets SIP trunking for business, alongside 9200 and 800 service numbers, but the same 3CX integration approach also applies to Mobily, Salam (ITC) and Zain.
ECOLOR configures the carrier trunk on 3CX end to end: trunk credentials and registration, codec selection, DID (number) mapping to extensions or queues, outbound caller ID (CLI) per department, inbound routing to your IVR, and outbound dial rules. The result is a compliant, cost-efficient voice connection that uses a CST-licensed Saudi carrier rather than unlicensed international SIP.
Because the trunk terminates on your 3CX system, it also unlocks everything 3CX does with a call once it arrives: multi-level IVR menus, ring groups and call queues, business-hours and out-of-hours routing, call recording, and reporting. The SIP trunk is simply the external line into that system, so a well-planned trunk and DID map is what lets a single connection serve reception, sales, support and multiple branches from one 3CX instance.
- Replaces E1/PRI/analog lines with SIP over the internet
- Uses a licensed Saudi carrier: STC, Mobily, Salam or Zain
- Configured on 3CX as a VoIP provider (SIP trunk)
- Supports DIDs, caller ID (CLI), IVR routing and dial rules
What an STC SIP trunk on 3CX gives you
Carrier SIP trunk
A licensed Saudi carrier trunk (STC, Mobily, Salam or Zain) registered on 3CX to carry all your inbound and outbound calls over IP.
Lower call costs
SIP trunking typically reduces per-minute and line-rental costs compared with legacy E1/PRI, and consolidates multiple lines into one connection.
Channels scale on demand
Add or remove simultaneous call channels as your team grows, without installing new physical lines for each seat.
Keep your numbers
Port your existing landline and service numbers to the carrier trunk, so customers keep dialling the numbers they already know.
3CX configuration
ECOLOR sets up trunk registration, codecs, DID mapping, outbound CLI, inbound routing to IVR/queues and outbound dial rules on 3CX.
Secure & compliant
Trunks are configured securely on a CST-licensed carrier, with SIP hardening so local Saudi calling stays reliable and compliant.

| STC (stc Business) | Largest; markets SIP trunking, 9200 & 800 | Yes |
| Mobily | Enterprise voice | Yes |
| Salam (ITC) | Strong in Eastern Province | Yes |
| Zain | Competitive enterprise plans | Yes |

How ECOLOR sets up your SIP trunk
- Qualify the carrier & channels
We help you choose and qualify a licensed carrier (STC, Mobily, Salam or Zain) and size the number of simultaneous channels you need for peak concurrency.
- Order the trunk & numbers
You order the SIP trunk and DIDs from the carrier; we specify the technical requirements and, where needed, plan number porting for your existing numbers.
- Configure the trunk on 3CX
We add the carrier as a VoIP provider on 3CX, set registration/authentication, codecs and SIP security so the trunk registers reliably.
- Map DIDs, CLI & routing
We map each DID to the right extension, IVR or queue, set outbound caller ID (CLI) per department, and build outbound dial rules.
- Test & go live
We test inbound and outbound calls, verify caller ID, routing and audio quality, then cut you over to the new trunk and monitor go-live.
How a SIP trunk connects
What you need
- A licensed Saudi carrier SIP trunk (STC, Mobily, Salam or Zain)
- 3CX system (on-prem or hosted)
- Number of simultaneous channels for peak concurrency
- DIDs / numbers (new or ported from your current provider)
Not sure how many channels or which carrier fits? ECOLOR will help you qualify the carrier and size the trunk before you order.
Saudi deployment notes & limits
Use a CST-licensed carrier for local Saudi calling. SIP trunking depends on a licensed carrier; using unlicensed international SIP for local Saudi numbers risks service interruption, so the compliant path is a CST-licensed carrier such as STC, Mobily, Salam or Zain.
Size channels for peak concurrency, not headcount. The number of simultaneous channels you need is driven by how many calls happen at the same time during your busiest period — not the total number of extensions. Under-sizing causes busy tones at peak; ECOLOR helps you estimate concurrency and add channels as demand grows.
Plan number porting early. If you want to keep existing landline or service numbers, porting to the new carrier trunk is possible but takes coordination and lead time. ECOLOR maps your DIDs and caller ID so departments keep the right inbound and outbound identity through the switch.
Secure the trunk and allow the right network. A SIP trunk is an internet-facing voice service, so it should be hardened: restrict SIP traffic to the carrier’s IP ranges where the provider supports IP authentication, keep 3CX and its SBC updated, and avoid exposing SIP/RTP ports to the whole internet. Our SIP security guidance covers this in more depth; the goal is to prevent toll fraud and registration abuse while keeping call setup and audio (RTP) flowing cleanly.
Budget bandwidth per channel and monitor quality. Each concurrent call consumes roughly 85–100 kbps with the G.711 codec (less with G.729), so size your internet link and any QoS rules around your peak channel count, not the average. After go-live, ECOLOR checks registration stability, one-way-audio and NAT issues, and call quality so problems are caught before they reach customers.
